Elise James, LCSW - Clinical Director of Social Workers

Elise James is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 20 years of experience in the mental health field. She is originally from New York but has lived in South Florida for most of her life. She is fluent in Spanish, born to Central American parents who developed her passion for language and for people.  Her career path has led her on a journey that includes providing counseling to children and families in settings such as schools, outpatient clinics, hospitals, and community organizations. Elise’s goal is to continually assist others with achieving inner peace and emotional stability so they can thrive in their everyday lives. Empathy and sensitivity to life circumstances encompasses Elise’s practice as she specializes in trauma, domestic violence, infant mental health, and acute/chronic medical illnesses. In addition to her extensive experience working with children and families, Elise specializes in grief and loss as well as caregiver issues. As the mother of a child born with significant medical needs, Elise also has personal experience navigating the complexities of being a medical parent. Her experience with her child has fueled her desire to further assist families in navigating the emotional toll that is experienced when caring for a medically fragile loved one.

Elise continuously empowers her clients to become the best version of themselves throughout the therapeutic process. She encourages practical and helpful coping skills to address various challenges that her clients face on a day-to-day basis. Evidenced-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, and Crisis Intervention along with encompassing the client’s spiritual beliefs are utilized to help decrease symptoms that are negatively impacting her client’s lives.
